PDCA
Members are a community of professional, profitable and ethical
contractors. Membership is available to contractors engaged in the coatings
application industry (any and all types of paints, coatings, decorative
finishes, wallcovering, and any type of surface
treatment). Contractors must be licensed, registered, and insured in those
states where they do business if so required by area law or
regulation. Members agree to adhere to the PDCA Code of Ethics. PDCA believes the public is
ill served by contractors who do not comply with the legal practice of this
profession.

the largest chapters in the PDCA organization, with over 70 members made up of

How do they
get together?
Meetings are held on the last Monday
of the month at The Lamb Tavern,
or program with guest speakers of
interest to the trade.
How does a member benefit?
1. Through the monthly programs which address the skill
and management aspects of the trade.
Topics range from estimating, insurance, computer applications to
practical demonstrations of wood graining, marbleizing and high pressure
washing.
2. Trading and sharing experiences on the practical level
with those contractors and suppliers who face the same opportunities and
problems on a daily basis.
3. Availability of the literature which is trade specific
developed by the national organization, for example, annual estimating guide,
craftsman's guide, business management reference manual, apprentice handbooks,
etc.
4. Attendance at regional and national conventions
comprised of educational seminars and trade shows.
5. Seminars
on cost accounting, sales, hazardous waste, lead safety, etc.
6. It is not all business, we
generally have a Christmas party, and sometimes attend a ball game or take part
in a charity project.

Annually, in the beginning of each
year, a national convention is held, usually in a warm weather climate. The convention has business meetings to
provide direction for the national organization, many educational seminars on
business management and technical skills, and a huge trade show put on by
vendors throughout the country.
