PDCA represents
over 10,000 owners and top-flight managers from
more than 3,000 painting and decorating firms across the U.S.
and Canada
PDCA is developing industry standards, industry-specific
publications and programs essential to the success of your
business. From business management publications, to training
and reference videos, to health and safety manuals, we are
continually providing the resources you need to manage a successful
painting company. PDCA Standards benefit the painting and
decorating industry and the entire construction and design
community.
PDCA is promoting the use of professional painting and decorating
contractors to the consumer. The promotion of PDCA Members
to the purchasing public via the 'Find A Pro' search feature
on this web site and the promotion of members who have completed
the Commercial or Residential Contractors Certification Programs
are two examples of how we are promoting the hiring of a PDCA

PDCA Members are a community of professional, profitable
and ethical contractors. Membership is available to contractors
engaged in the coatings application industry (any and all
types of paints, coatings, decorative finishes, wallcovering,
and any type of surface treatment). Contractors must be licensed,
registered, and insured in those states where they do business
if so required by area law or regulation. Members agree to
adhere to the PDCA Code of Ethics. PDCA believes the public
is ill served by contractors who do not comply with the legal
practice of this profession.

AND DECORATING CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA
The PDCA is an association of painting contractors and suppliers
dedicated to the professional painting industry and the growth
of your company in the community.
What is the local group of the PDCA?
The Delaware Valley Chapter is one of the largest chapters
in the PDCA organization, with over 70 members made up of
merit shops from Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties
and several contractors from Philadelphia. There are also
over 60 associate members representing the leading paint manufacturers,
and other suppliers, both locally and nationally.
How do they get together?
Meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at The
Double Tree Guest Suites 640 West Germantown Pike, Plymouth
Meeting, PA. Registration and fellowship begins at 6:30, followed
by dinner at 7:00pm and include a program with guest speakers
of interest to the trade.
How does a member benefit?
- Through the monthly programs which address the skill
and management aspects of the trade. Topics range from estimating,
insurance, computer applications to practical demonstrations
of wood graining, marbleizing and high pressure washing.
- Trading and sharing experiences on the practical level
with those contractors and suppliers who face the same opportunities
and problems on a daily basis.
- Availability of the literature which is trade specific
developed by the national organization, for example, annual
estimating guide, craftsman's guide, business management
reference manual, apprentice handbooks, etc.
- Attendance at regional and national conventions comprised
of educational seminars and trade shows.
- Seminars on cost accounting, sales, hazardous waste, lead
safety, etc.
- It is not all business, we generally have a Christmas
party, and sometimes attend a ball game or take part in
a charity project.
- ABOVE ALL, the opportunity to belong to an organization
interested in YOUR welfare.
- All new members will receive discount booklets from various
vendors, worth well over $500.00.

Annually, in the beginning of each year, a national convention
is held, usually in a warm weather climate. The convention
has business meetings to provide direction for the national
organization, many educational seminars on business management
and technical skills, and a huge trade show put on by vendors
throughout the country.
